On Sunday, September 25, 2011 there will be a little extra sizzle at the Chattanooga Market as Alton Brown emcees the annual Cast Iron Cook-Off, sponsored by Lodge Manufacturing. This year, local chefs will use sustainable seafood, surrounded by fresh ingredients purchased at the Market, to create culinary masterpieces. Market goers will enjoy watching these professionals select, prepare, combine and cook the ingredients while racing the clock. Although only one dish can be named “The Best of the Market,” this is certainly more of a delicious demonstration than tasty tournament.

The Chattanooga Market, located at the First Tennessee Pavilion in Chattanooga’s Southside District, is one of the region’s best places to find local produce, artwork and a variety of hand-made items from local artists and vendors. Offered every Sunday, May-December, the market was recently named one of the Top 10 Best Public Markets in America by Frommer’s, one of the nation’s and the world’s most respected travel guides.

/. has a discussion going

For me it is a part of a much broader issues.
History Channel is more likely to have end of the world and prophecy nonsense.
Bravo and A&E are no longer about the "Arts".
Hell Animal Planet has a freakin ghost show.
And the classic is MTV & VH1 no longer play music videos.

First person narratives to splice in a project.
Something with gothic or cthonic feel.
Beastie near human but not quite, is a plus.
Hunter becoming the hunted another plus.
So is a film noir feel.

Any good audio, book or otherwise, comes to mind?

Hey gang,
I am clearing out my closet and selling off a lot of my gaming and book collection with the majority of the money going to charity.  The charities I am supporting are the American Cancer Society, Canine Assistance (a group that trains dogs for disabled people) and a local animal shelter which rescues animals from other shelters before they are put down.

Please check out my auctions and bid if you see something you like.  They are all starting at a penny and I have some rare out of print items up for auction. Tell a friend

Join us at GMX (www.whatisgmx.net) in Nashville on Friday, Oct. 22 at 10:00pm. Plan on a killer party that only Frolicon can throw. If you'd like to help out email us and let us know or just comment below.

From Commondreams.org
Minneapolis will pay seven zombies $165,000 in a federal lawsuit the zombies filed after being arrested while protesting mindless consumerism. Police had charged them with carrying simulated "weapons of mass destruction" - aka sound equipment - and dismissed their legal rights with obscenities.
